I just wanted to be close to you, and I’ll never understand why that was so terrible… Why it was too much to ask. I wanted us to be an ‘us’… But that would have taken something more than you were capable of giving – It would have taken you loving me back the same way I loved you and you simply couldn’t do it… I just wanted your favorite things to become my favorite things. I wanted to hear my phrases on your lips and hum the tunes you always got stuck in your head…. I wanted to take you to the places I’ve been that you’ve never seen… I wanted us to inspire each-other to do new things we’ve never done so we could experience the thrill of seeing or trying something for the first time through each-other. I wanted us to share things; love, secrets, a home, a future…. I wanted your life to become my life. I wanted to meet the people you love see all the wonderful qualities you saw in them – but more than that …. I just wanted to BE one of them……..Ranata Suzuki
My female role models have never been celebrities or movies stars … they’re the strong, courageous women I’ve been privileged enough to meet throughout my life.
What impresses me about them isn’t the size of their waists or how far they’ll go to get the role of a lifetime… It’s the size of their hearts and the lengths they go to fulfill their various life roles.
They’ve been the pillars of strength in my family, in my community and in my workplaces. They’ve experienced births, deaths and every conceivable experience in between and they did it all with a grace and a strength of spirit that exceeds mere words. Throughout my life, they’ve been there with me to celebrate the good, commiserate the bad and accentuate the admirable qualities that a strong woman should possess so that I could aspire to achieve them within myself.
They’ve nurtured me, protected me and mothered me through so many stages of my life – even though I was not theirs to care for. These are the amazing women who’ve given life, experienced life and taught me valuable lessons about life… They’re the women who laughed and smiled through it all despite their hardships and continued to love with all of themselves and exuded positivity and strength to everyone they met. They are my absolute inspiration and I love them with every piece of my heart. So to all the amazing women in my life…. This one’s for you…….Ranata Suzuki
